Biotechnological methods for resistance breeding in grapevine
Duration: 1993-1996, 1997-1998Financed by: Amt der Niederösterreichischen Landesregierung; Österreich, BM für Land- und Forstwirtschaft; Österreich
The main focus of these programme was the establishment of protocols for:
- a) in vitro-culture and virus elimination (in-vitro-thermotherapy, meristeme culture) of economically important grape cultivars and rootstocks
- b) Breeding of grape cultivares by regeneration of plants from protoplasts, different complex explants and somatic embryogenesis
- c) gene transfer by biotechnological methods, e.g. Agrobacterium-tumefaciens-mediated transformation
- d) induction of virus resistance against ArMV, GFLV, GVA and GVB
