Arabis Mosaic Virus
(ArMV)

Arabis mosaic virus is distributed on numerous woody and herbaceous plants all over the world. Among fruit trees infections were reported on cherry and peach.

The symptoms caused by ArMV on susceptible Prunus cultivars include reduced vigour, typical formation of enations on leaves and rosettes. Its economic importance has not yet been established.

Besides grafting the virus can be transmitted selectively by the nematode Xiphinema diversicaudatum. Therefore, soil disinfection before replanting of stone fruit trees on formerly contaminated areas may be necessary for disease control.
