Apple Chlorotic Leafspot Virus
(ACLSV)

ACLSV is pathogenic on different species and encompasses a number of different strains. Most commercial cultivars of apple, apricot, cherry, peach and plum do not exhibit symptoms of infection.

However, the virus can accentuate malformations caused by other pathogens or predispose the tree to nutrient deficiencies or graft incompatibility (brown line necrosis).

Virulent isolates of ACLSV cause fruit necrosis like plum pseudopox, viruela and butteratura on apricot or cherry fruit necrosis.

ACLSV frequency is reducable by avoiding uncontrolled vegetative propagation of planting material, since it is not epidemic. The economic significance is variable as certain isolates can destroy the crop.
